As I live my life today,
Voices from the past have their say.
My Grandpa's gentle and serious tone
tells me it's important, what I'm being shown.
I hear him say: “Always label your photographs, and keep them organized.”
My Grandma's voice I hear quite often,
as she speaks these words, her tone does soften.
I hear her say: “The way to a man's heart is through his stomach.”
My Father's voice is frequently loud,
he's a man of honor, a man who is proud.
I hear him say: “If you are going to do something, do it right, or don't do it at all.”
My Mother's voice, with a myriad of moods,
critical, supportive, loving; a rainbow, she includes.
I hear her say: “Keep your eyebrows plucked, and make sure you can support yourself.”
